We were very busy in the studio this weekend. The weather was beautiful and the light that streamed into our natural light studio was delicious.
There’s still time to vote in the South Florida Parenting Magazine’s Kid’s Crown Awards. Courtney Studios is nominated for “Broward: Best Family Photographer”. I appreciate your continued love and support.
Thank you so much for nominating me and Courtney Studios for a South Florida Parenting Magazine “Kid’s Crown Award”. It is because of your love and support, over the past 7 and a half years, that Courtney Studios has reached this level of success and for that I’m grateful.

This Saturday, March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day and the premier of “i EXTRA love you”: a collaborative photography portrait project between Courtney Studios, artist Alissa Alfonso and The Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Association. “i EXTRA love you” showcases what makes a person with Down Syndrome truly so “extra”, in reference to the extra 21 chromosome that is inherent in people with Down Syndrome. The exhibit will be on display at Gallery 2014 in Downtown Hollywood (2014 Harrison St) this Saturday from 7-10.
Join the Downtown Hollywood Artwalk March 21st to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Visit Muzart – Creative Arts Studios, Fairytales Hollywood, Gallery 2014, Art Center 20/20 and more participating business that will highlight what makes an individual with Down syndrome extra special!

Meet Samantha. She shoots boudoir exclusively for Courtney Studios and is available for weddings. Samantha has recently been featured on herself.com an amazingly beautiful and thought provoking blog that features the stories of real women. Here’s the first of three features. Here.
Here are some facts about Sam. (in her own words)
*I have 4 kids. 2 girls and 2 boys.
*I worked at blockbuster when vhs existed and threw out my back carrying vhs tapes. To this day it’s still messed up.
*My favorite show is “Antique Roadshow”
*I love Ikea.
*I collect milkglass.
*I go to my kids’ school on chicken patty day for lunch.
*I have 3 tattoos and I regret them all.
*Florida native, but I don’t own any flip flops. Not one pair.
*MAC lipstick “Ruby Woo” is a must.
*I’m scared of house lizards.
*My oldest daughter named my youngest son.
*Favorite Song is Blind Melon’s “No Rain”

“i EXTRA love you” is a photography collaboration between the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization and myself. The project evolved really organically. Daniela Roeder, a good friend and very involved in the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization because her brother, 15, has down syndrome, has been discussing this project with me for months and we finally went forward with it. On Saturday, 30 kids ages 8 mos-24 years came through the studio for a quick portrait sitting. The focus is what makes each kid so “extra”, referencing the extra chromosome associated with Down Syndrome. It was really amazing. “i EXTRA love you” premiers on World Down Syndrome Day, Saturday, March 21 at Gallery 2014 (2014 Harrison St) in downtown Hollywood.
Portraits from the shoot won’t be revealed until then, but here are some great #bts (behind the scenes) images from that day taken by Daniela with her trusty iphone.
