Sometimes all you need is ONE image to make a design statement. Meet the acrylic standout, our most popular studio offering. This family decided on one large acrylic, 30×40 in. The piece, originally designed to hang in the master bedroom, I’m proud to say, now resides in the formal living room. The first thing you see when you walk through the front door. The 3mm plexiglass over the print captures light, in a way I can’t describe. But the result is breathtaking. Colors are bright and images are sharp. All pieces come ready to hang, secured to a strong 1″ aluminum sub-frame which gives it the illusion of floating off the wall. Make an appointment to come by the studio and look at the custom portrait art options we offer, including custom framing.
Happy first birthday Oliver! Mom, fellow photographer Lora Moy, brought Oliver to the studio for his first birthday portraits and smash cake session. He is truly one of the most adorable and delicious little babies EVER!!! I love how the natural light in the studio just makes his eyes shine.

Oliver’s big sister, Charlotte got in for a little bit of the action. Such a beauty!
I have been shooting covers for the Hollywood Gazette for the past 4 years. My first cover was May 2010 and I was lucky enough to use my sister as my cover model. I love being a part of a monthly magazine that showcases my hometown community. And I love it even more when I can meld together personal work with professional. When it came time to shoot the August cover, I was given one direction by the Gazette’s editor in chief, Jennifer Sandomir, “Back to school”. Perfect! I had been wanting to do a “back to school” inspired shoot using my girls. Anything with a “theme” is completely out of my comfort zone. I couldn’t wait to flex my creative muscle a bit. So I called up my girl Alissa and we were able to check off a week of our “One Shoot a Week” personal project. Alissa set it up at her house, dressed our girls in both vintage and original pieces created by her (under her children’s line 5 Stitches), and we just let the girls play school.
The Hollywood Gazette is a free monthly magazine. Make sure you pick up a copy to check which adorable image made the cover.

The embellished overalls are an original 5 Stitches design. Isn’t it to die for???!!!!
Meet Jordan and Sydney; two completely stunning sisters. Need I say more? Their mom won this session and a framed/signed 8×10 print during the voting for the South Florida Parenting Kids Crown Awards. I awarded one session each week during the voting to thank everyone for their support. Which must have worked because the studio WON!!! “Judges Choice: Best Family Photography in Broward”.
The studio will be closed the last week of July for vacation. We will be back in the saddle on Monday, August 4.
I’ve been shooting this family since little Max was 2 months old. He’ll be starting first grade this fall. Max and his big brother Nico were completely game when I wanted to explore this new parking garage just two blocks away from the studio. Parking garages make for the most delicious light.
Meet Ella and Noah. Mom wanted to capture the last few days in their amazing condo on South Beach, before making the move to the suburbs. The light in the apartment and the view from the balcony were second to none. Not to mention how adorable the kiddos are!!! We really had a great time , and the cupcakes were delicious!
I have been plugging along this summer with my personal project; One Shoot a Week. Artist and friend, Alissa Alfonso and I have collaborated on each shoot, at times being able to capture all 6 of our kids together. We’ll eventually get to share all of them. This particular shoot at Greynolds Park went something like this.
Me, “Hey Alissa, what are you up to today?” (I had two kids at home. She had all 3.)
Alissa, “Let’s get the kids out of the house and head to Greynolds Park.”
As a native Miami-an, I’m embarrassed to say I’d never been there. 15 minutes later I got to her house. She had tied Chinese fish lanterns to some sticks and we were off on another adventure.
It’s all because of your love and support that Courtney Ortiz Photography received “Judge’s Choice: Best Family Photography in Broward County.”
As a small token of my appreciation I’m offering a limited time special mini session promotion to my newsletter subscribers. We are actively shooting in the new studio. The natural light inside is amazing and the outside is forever changing and evolving giving me new opportunities to get creative with my clients.
Margot and her mommies came by the studio for their first family portrait session. They even brought the cutest cake for Margot to destroy. I’ve had some super adorable cakes in the studio recently. We love celebrating birthdays in the studio.
