Lenny and I took a little trip to the Central Coast of California to attend our dear friends, Jack and Aimee’s wedding. Aimee is originally from Santa Maria, California, and it was only natural that she wanted to say “I do” back at home. And it gave the rest of us an opportunity to take a little trip across country to share their special day with them. Not only are the bride and groom special people to my husband and I, but we got to travel with a group of some of our closest friends as well. And I’m talking oldest and closest friends. Two of which have been my best buddies since elementary school. My husband has been friends with these guys since high school, and as we have gotten older and gone away to college and gotten married our group has gotten bigger and bigger. These are friends that we can call on any time of day or night. Will always be there if we need them. It made the whole experience so special. I want to say that I was NOT the photographer for this wedding. The photographer was Micki Salazar, but being a photographer myself, and being surrounded in beautiful new territory I couldn’t help myself. I traveled “light”. Just my camera and my 50mm f/1.2 lens. The Friday before the wedding was spent wine tasting at two wineries in the Santa Maria Valley, Rancho Sisquoc and Cambria. Saturday morning we traveled to Solvang, California (Remember the movie Sideways?) had an amazing Danish breakfast and did a little shopping before the wedding itself. The ceremony was held in an amazing old barn in the middle of an orange, lemon, and lime grove. Lots of amazing details that would make my wedding photographer friends drool!
Lenny and I arrived in LA on Thursday and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway. We stopped for lunch in Malibu!
Friday Wine Tasting!
Being a Native Floridian, I’m no stranger to citrus fruit, but I just loved all the lemon trees!
WEDDING TIME!
All of our peeps (minus the bride and groom).
“The boys!”
I wasn’t able to take photos of the bride and groom solo, but I love having friends who are willing participants!
I’m embarrassed to admit how long ago I shot this wedding. Early summer to say the least. So without further ado, I introduce Mr. and Mrs. Malkin. The ceremony and reception took place at the historical Rusty Pelican on Key Biscayne in Miami.
Till next time,

They could not have asked for better weather. Megan and Tim’s wedding day was perfect. Perfect weather, perfect venue, and perfect guests. I’d say 90% of their guests flew in from out of town. It was practically a destination wedding for everyone but the bride and groom.
Congratulations Megan and Tim!! So much love to you both!
15+ blog comments and this newlywed couple can start their family portrait collection with an 8×10 print!

35 of your closest friends and family for a three day cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas to celebrate your wedding?? Yes, Please!
This is how Josh and Maggie chose to take the plunge. I was fortunate enough to be one of the 10 non sailing guests able to attend. Josh is up there on the list as one of my oldest and dearest friends. I think he’s actually #3 after Amy and Nathan. Being able to share in a friend of 25 years’ wedding is really an amazing experience.
Their engagement session can be found here and here.
Congratulations guys.
I don’t shoot many weddings, but as I venture into the wedding photography arena, I’m starting to really understand why my wedding photographer friends really love it. It’s all about the relationships. From the interview, to consultation, engagement session, pre event meeting, and the event day ALL DAY, I really get to develop a real friendship with my clients. And I get to spend the most important day of their lives with them AND present them with their memories. Any photographer will tell you, regardless of what they shoot, that the greatest feeling is to give those you truly care about amazing images. And that’s what I’m realizing is what being a wedding (or any type) photographer is all about. Giving people you truly care about something amazing.
That being said, Megan and Tim are engaged!!! I’m shooting their June wedding at the Pelican Grand Bay Resort. I can’t wait!
…who doesn’t love some train track shots?!
Yesterday was Gina and Chris’ twentieth wedding anniversary. They renewed their vows on the beach with their two kids. Here are just a couple teasers.
“L-O-V-E” as interpreted by a 5 year old.
By a ten year old.
I had such an amazing time getting to know this couple during our engagement session. It was truly a collaborative effort as we captured all that they are together as a couple.
Congratulations you two! I’m very much looking forward to capturing your wedding this June.
Three guesses where they’re going on their honeymoon.
The groom is a pottery artist.
