I met Joseph and his mom for the first time at the Pop-Up Shop I held at Smash Beauty Lounge last month. He is an adorable little boy with an affection for cars, trains, and aero-planes. I worked with his mom and created a set of custom Valentines cards for Joseph to send to relatives and take to school.
The second and final proof. (excuse the iphone image)
And of course I showed mom some Valentine love and designed her own Valentine Facebook cover photo.
If you follow my instagram feed or are fans on facebook, you probably know by know that we are moving. Very excited to announce that Courtney Ortiz Photography is moving into a new dedicated studio space this spring. We are building out a custom space that will allow for regular studio hours, an inside portrait studio with both natural and studio lighting, and a more gorgeous portrait options to choose from. I will be announcing a date in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
I’ve known this family for a couple of years through my involvement with the Greg Wohrle Foundation. Greg’s Foundation is a non profit organization whose mission is to provide funding and education for brain tumor research and respite to those most in need. Their signature annual event is the The Greg Wohrle Feel The Love Fest on Sunday, March 9. The Feel the Love Fest is truly an amazing fun family event. I encourage all of you to check it out, go with your family and have a great time all for a great cause.
On another note, COP is moving! We are moving just down the street into a permanent studio location in downtown Hollywood, located at 2020 Harrison St. The dedicated space will allow for a full range of studio photography options. Expect clean modern and fun studio portraits without the use of heavy props. COP truly focuses on capturing the true essence and personality of your kiddos. Being able to grow into a new space also means more fine art portrait samples and a custom framing department. This spring we will now be offering a full line of framing options. Expect a bigger more formal announcement of the move in the next few days.
Today is Stella’s birthday. Stella is my favorite oldest daughter (I have two), and today she turns 5. On the way home from school we did a quick detour to the studio and we had our first official Courtney Ortiz Photography downtown Hollywood session. These sessions downtown have really become my signature over the years. It was fun to share the enthusiasm of what I do with my daughter, and in the meantime she loves the camera’s attention. It’s a win/win for all.
The last available date for downtown Hollywood sessions is Sunday, November 17. Call the studio 954-558-6893 or shoot me an email, courtney@courtneyortiz.com.
Meet Justin and Ari. Two adorable brothers who I had the pleasure of playing with one Sunday afternoon for a lifestyle session. As you can see from our time together we all really had a great time. What I’m really excited to share with you is how this family uses their images to create a breathtaking statement wall gallery in their “Play Zone.” I was there for the install last week. (I do offer complete install of your wall gallery.) Stay tuned for that one tomorrow.
Updates…
The downtown Hollywood mini session dates have been announced, and there are only a few spots left in November. The studio is closed for the holidays starting December 1 and anything booked before Thanksgiving is guaranteed delivery for Christmas and anything booked before November 8 is guaranteed delivery before Hanukkah.
There is only one appointment available for the NYC sessions on October 5. Call the studio or shoot me an email for more information.
In the digital social media age, we all know how important a great “profile pic” is. As a small business owner with an online presence, a professional headshot is your potential client’s first impression of who you are. We all are guilty of judging books by their cover and a professional headshot can transform a business owner from amateur to professional with one click of the shutter. On Friday, September 20, myself along with Stacy Boegem of the Happiness Agenda, Dara Michelle of Dara Michelle Style, and Sally Pricer of Smash Beauty Lounge are hosting the first ever “Headshot Happy Hour”. Professional makeup, styling, photography, and wine! It’s a win/win for everyone. (Oh, and did I mention I’m actually including digital files for use in your marketing material both print and online??!!) See below for more details or visit the Femfessionals event registration page.
I first met Stacy Boegem, a few years ago when we worked together on the board for the Team Up For Toys charity event to benefit Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. She is an amazing life coach through her business The Happiness Agenda and now President of the Ft. Lauderdale chapter of Femfessionals. I urge you check out her website and blog. I only need 15 minutes with her and I feel immediately recharged and refreshed. She commissioned me for her headshots this past spring. Now it’s her nature of business that she sends out weekly enews letters and blogs multiple times through the week. She needed a comprehensive collection of images of her showing every range of emotion and body language you could think of. Together with Dara Michelle, they created multiple looks and I captured every style in both a studio and lifestyle setting. In the end she has a “stock photography” collection of her that she can use for a variety of different things. Again, check out her website. Not just to see the awesome that she is, but to see how she incorporates a variety of different headshot styles. If your business requires more than just a traditional headshot, feel free to contact me at the studio 954-558-6893 or shoot me an email courtney@courtneyortiz.com. I do offer these comprehensive “stock photography” headshot sessions. Let’s chat about it.
After a very short stint in Cooper City, we sold the house we built out in the suburbs and moved back to east Hollywood…home. (If you follow my instagram feed or read sistersnotdesigners.com, you’re pretty up to date). Anyway, we’re back in the ‘wood. Which means I’m walking distance to the area that I’ve become known for and love shooting in, Downtown Hollywood. I can now walk to work. I’ve been shooting in downtown Hollywood pretty regularly since 2009, (Courtney Ortiz Photography was started in September 2007) and I’m really excited that the landscape is changing and will continue to change now that the city has taken on the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project. Hollywood is bringing in an amazing group of mural artists to add life and vibrancy to our little downtown area. When I’m photographing a subject, regardless of the location, I truly try to make the location just as important as the subject. It helps to tell the story. So I’m beyond thrilled to have new colors and textures to photograph along with your kiddos.
Downtown Hollywood mini sessions are available through December 1. For more information please feel free to call the studio or email me.
Sometimes you have so much family in town, that you have to split your session into two seperate days. I’m always game for that!!! So today’s post is an ode to “Family”. To funny grandads, crazy uncles, favorite aunts, cousins, a family dog, and gorgeous grandmas.
Jack and Aimee just gave birth to their first son. (Portraits to come) Three weeks before baby was due they realized that they were almost over due for maternity portraits. I love the natural relaxed feel between this soon to be mom and dad.
Regular downtown Hollywood studio sessions are now available on select weekends through December 1. Traveling to NYC this fall? So am I!!! Stay tuned for travel dates and information on how to commission me for portraits in the Big Apple.
See you soon,
court
Sometimes, it’s not about the location, but about the light, as you can see from these first few images. I love parking garage light.
When a whole month has gone by without a post, I figure I better come back with a bang. I’m really in love with this lifestyle session. Can you say “custom coffee table book”?
Lots going on…courtney ortiz photography now has a permanent home inside Gallery 2014 in downtown Hollywood. I am a resident artist there. Pretty cool huh?!? And on a personal note, my family and I are getting ready to move back across town to the east side in Hollywood. Lots to keep me off the streets and out of trouble. You might also notice a slightly new look to the blog and website. I’m working with an amazing custom website designer to give my look the finishing touches that it needs. There are more changes to come!
With the new downtown Hollywood location, downtown Hollywood mini sessions or “studio” sessions are available on select Saturday mornings as well as a limited number of beach sessions per month. And if you really want to “go all the way” with me let me come over and play for a couple of hours and present you with portraits like these…fun and genuine. It’s who you are.
