There’s something to be said when Michelle, from MK Kids asks me to photograph her own “kids”. Knowing that she knows every photographer in South Florida, it’s definitely an honor and privilege. MK Kids is South Florida’s leading talent and model management firm for children. South Florida has an extremely busy modeling season from October to April. If you think your “kid” has what it takes, check out the website here.
These images were taken in my new studio. Studio mini sessions are available Saturday, August 13 and September 17. Email courtney@courtneyortiz.com for more info.
15+ blog comments and these adorable kiddos receive a complimentary 8×10 print.
I really try to limit the different studio products that I offer my clients. Keep the menu small, and focus on fine art heirloom pieces and a limited number of keepsake albums. The Signature Sweet 16 is one of my favorites. The Signature Sweet 16 is a storyboard that showcases 16 of your favorite images from a session. It is available in either 20×20 or 30x30in size. The storyboard is mounted on a 3/4in mount and is ready to hang. No frame necessary. Canvas options are available. The Signature Sweet 16 is perfect for a more informal room such as a family room, playroom, or child’s bedroom.
Finally getting around to blogging sessions from the Downtown Ft. Lauderdale Mini Sessions that were held back in November. November and December were crazy months here at the studio. We’re all glad to be getting back into a normal routine.
Matilda Jane, the clothing line for girls that I love with all my heart is debuting their spring line on February 1. So it would only be appropriate to have a trunk show in the studio on February 2. So mark your calendars.
Halloween is quickly approaching (Sunday), and I had to share these images that were taken as potential covers for the October issue of the Hollywood Gazette. These were actually taken at the end of September as they had to be ready for print by October 1. My editor said two things to me as guidelines for October’s cover, “kids & pumpkins.” It was still too early for pumpkin patches, but a trip out to the super Target, and we were ready for some pumpkin carving fun. I usually hate to use my own kids and our friends for official work, but I made an exception this time around.
One of the following images was chosen for the cover.

Studio update: Sunday, November 21, is the one and only Holiday mini session date to be held in downtown Ft. Lauderdale along the Riverfront. The session is $135 and includes 25 custom holiday cards. Studio mini sessions are typically held on Saturdays at the studio in downtown Hollywood. A studio mini session is a 30-45 minute session in and around downtown Hollywood. It’s very urban and modern in style. The cost is $100 and includes one 8×12 print. Additional prints, boutique products, and CD’s are available a la carte. Email courtney@courtneyortiz.com for more info!
One of the things sitting on my to do list now for weeks is to finalize the holiday card designs that we are going to offer here at the studio. Well today I finished it!!!! What a feeling of accomplishment. I am so excited to unveil the holiday cards that courtney ortiz photography will be offering to clients this year. I loved this design set from the moments I first saw it on the Design Aglow blog months ago. Well I went back and forth for so long (too long) contemplating so many different designs, that I just said “enough is enough! This has to get done!” I went with what I loved to begin with. Lessoned learned….”go with your gut!”
These are 5×7, double sided, full color, flat cards printed on thick linen texture card stock complete with envelopes. They are fully customizable.
I can’t make up my mind as to which one I’ll use for my own family’s card. You’ll just have to look in your mailbox come December.
So now’s the time to book your holiday portrait session. Slots are filling up fast. Holiday mini sessions are available at the studio Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays.
Call the studio at 954-558-6893 for more information!
Last week, the third courtney ortiz photography newsletter was sent to the masses. Getting the newsletter out was the one thing I wanted to accomplish before leaving for vacation, and I did it. The one thing I didn’t do was completely update my mailing list so if I missed you (a sincere apology if I did) it’s now available online. Click here!!!!!
My family and I were away for a week. A complete seven days! We spent four days in North Carolina, visiting my grandparents, and three days in Tampa. I shot a wedding on Saturday, so we decided to make a family trip out of it. One of the highlights of Tampa was meeting up with an old high school friend and his family. It had been 15 years since I had last seen my best friend’s older brother. After having breakfast together, their gorgeous daughter and I snuck off for a short mini session. One of the greatest joys of my job is being able to photograph the children of my friends.
She is the true essence of an “American Girl.”
