I really had a great time with this family. I had a great time because everyone was involved. It was truly a “family” session. It makes such a difference when everyone takes an active part, it’s fun!! Family participation is what makes those kiddos’ smiles so genuine and real. As parents, in ten years it’s not going to matter what we looked like in those pictures. What’s going to matter is that you have lasting images of each other together. Our kids WANT pictures of us! At least they will someday! haha
So without further ado, I’m happy to announce our November “Family of the Month.” The Druckers! Their picture is published in the current issue of the Hollywood Gazette. They also receive a 16×20 enlargement (of my choosing!), after it is displayed in the window of the studio for the next month. The Druckers are a family that really embrace being…just that… “a family.” We had a great time together that morning. It’s a session I’m really proud of!
(this is a long one!)
We only have a few Saturday spots in November for a Downtown Hollywood studio mini session. We are offering one downtown Ft. Lauderdale mini session date on Sunday, November 21. Email the studio at courtney@courtneyortiz.com.
I posted a single sneak peak from this session a couple of weeks ago, and as I’m super behind in my blogging, I’m finally getting around to the official post.
We’re really busy here at the studio as the holidays are approaching. I’m working on a date for some holiday mini sessions in downtown Ft. Lauderdale/Riverfront area, that will be announced in the next few days. “Studio Sessions” in downtown Hollywood are limited and as far as scheduling in a “Lifestyle Session” between now and the first of December….inquire within. If you’re interested in Holiday Cards click here.
Without further ado…the Weinsier family. They are the family of the month for October. You can see them in the current issue of the Hollywood Gazette as well as in the window of The Haircut Hangout in downtown Hollywood, which is also the location of my studio. If you happen to be in downtown Hollywood stop by the studio and enter to be the Family of the Month. The winning family gets a complimentary studio session, their picture in the Hollywood Gazette, and a 16×20 enlargement. I just shot the November Family of the Month this morning. Stay tuned!
If Dad looks familiar it’s because he’s a reporter for WPLG 10 news. During this session the little guy was feeling majorly under the weather, although you wouldn’t be able to tell it from this family portrait.
10 Months ago Mom got in contact with me to schedule a Lifestyle Session. We set the date and time, session was paid in full, and the day before we were supposed to meet she calls to say that one of her twin girls has a severe eye infection. 10 months and two surgeries later we were finally able to meet up. I’m actually glad we had to wait (although I wish it was for a different reason). What would have been 4 month old twin baby girls, were now 14 month old toddler girls. Running this way and that way, full of smiles and laughter. There are, currently, three gorgeous children in the family.
Four year old boy!
Beautiful twin girls!
Throughout all that this family has been through in the past year, Mom gets pregnant. She’s 31 weeks! Basically, four under four. This mom deserves a party!
Now I consider myself a pretty good “big sister”, but if there was an award given out to the BEST big sister ever then I think it would be given to this family. Meet Daniela, the recipient of the courtney ortiz photography BEST BIG SISTER EVER award. You only have to spend a couple of minutes with her to feel the love and dedication she has to her younger sister and brother. Daniela is really involved in the Broward Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization and is volunteering in the planning of the National Down Syndrome SocietyBuddy Walk, which is Sunday, October 24, 2010. For more information on the Buddy Walk and to check out volunteer opportunities in your community click here!
To give you my “shpeel”………”I offer two types of sessions for my clients. A “Studio Session” which is a 30-45 minute jaunt in and around Downtown Hollywood and a “Lifestyle Session” which is where I get to tell your story…”
I love being able to tell stories with my photography. A Lifestyle Session really allows us all to get to know each other and most importantly feel really comfortable. I’m really able to capture the essence of who and what your family is at that moment of your lives. It’s laid back, relaxed, and not rushed. For more information on scheduling a Lifestyle Session for your family shoot me an email courtney@courtneyortiz.com. I only offer a very limited number of Lifestyle Sessions each month. So if you’re even a bit curious and interested don’t hesitate to get in contact.
This family was in town from Switzerland. I’d like to think they travel all the way from Switzerland to be photographed, but really they come to Bal Harbour a couple of times a year. I’ve been lucky enough to capture their time down here twice. I first met mom at the Janie and Jack mini sessions I did last October at Merrick Park. We had our first session together shortly after, and she called me again when they knew they would be traveling down here again. To see some of their first session click here.
Most of the time spent in Miami is spent on the beach, so we had to stay true to the vacation. But they came up to Hollywood Beach this time to enjoy the surrey bikes, lifeguard stands, and of course…..ice cream!!
Thanks again for a wonderful afternoon! Hope to see you soon!!
I have to blog this family in two parts. This session was back in MAY (I’m so emabarrassed, that I’ve let this slip through the cracks). We’ve already had our second session together. If you notice, Mom is pregnant. She had her precious baby girl “E” two weeks ago tomorrow. One of the perks of my job, is developing relationships with my clients. Really becoming friends. This mom is an amazing (times a million) graphic designer who specializes in high end branding. You’ve probably seen her work. We’ve started collaborating on some projects. Some on her side, and she has started helping me with my own branding. Really creating a consistancy across the board. We’re taking what I already have and making it better. The new business cards were delivered this week. (LETTERPRESS!!!! They deserve their own blog post) And I’m currently in the process of a complete website update. So there’s a lot going on, and I really owe it to her. Thank you so much. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of respecting someone professionally, and knowing that they in turn respect you.
So I present my very good friend and her family two months before their new baby arrived!
Love a mom and dad who aren’t afraid of a little PDA.
