You would think that two separate portrait sessions in one week, would have any family whining and running for the hills. That’s what makes this group so special. They really value the importance of portrait art. Cherishing the moments that they are together. Their playful spirit really shines through.
I look forward to seeing them all again next year. Maybe I’ll just follow them around for the week.
I’m actually getting in some office time today and just had to put these two images on the blog even though I’m still in the middle of editing. Nina came all the way from New York City with her Mommy, and a session with me was on her “must do” list. I can’t ask for a bigger or better compliment than that.
On a personal note, we are getting ready to move this weekend. We’ll be moving into a smaller or more “quaint” house on the “east” side of town. Which really means out of the suburbs. I’m working diligently to get all client sessions out before the end of the week. I keep a personal blog with my sisters, sistersnotdesigners if you’re interested in coming too.
Knowing a family personally definitely helps when collaborating on possible locations. I always knew that if I photographed them it would have to be on a ball field. To say that this is a “baseball family” would be an understatement. Dad, coached Owen for two seasons of t-ball. There were three coaches. They were so dedicated, to both the kids and the game. It was a great two seasons that my family and I will cherish forever.
Evan and his family came to the new studio space to visit a couple of weeks ago. I’m enjoying all the new wall colors and street art that’s popping up around downtown Hollywood. The mural we used as a background that day is by South Florida artist Eddie Mendieta.
Courtney Ortiz Photography now has a home in Gallery 2014, 2014 Harrison St. It’s an amazing experience to work along side many talented artists.
I truly adore this family and I LOVE the images that came from our lifestyle family photography session on Hollywood Beach. Hollywood Beach has become a second studio for me of sorts.
This family is getting ready for some big changes in the upcoming weeks. It was very special to be able to capture big sister with her younger brother and sister. Myself being the oldest (significantly) of four, I understand and appreciate the bond between these three siblings. We explored some areas of downtown Dania Beach, which I’ve never photographed before. Definitely some great new spots.
Valentines Day is almost here! I love Valentines Day. Ashley Scharf, fashion stylist, and I hosted a very special day of Valentines mini sessions for some very special people.
I will be showcasing these sessions in the days leading up to Valentines Day. Stay tuned!
So you’ve decided that you’re going to commission a portrait artist to create amazing, one of a kind art to hang in your home and cherish forever. You’ve chosen the photographer who’s style matches your own (hopefully me) and you’re ready to make the investment. Once all these decisions are made and we’ve confirmed a location and date, I often have clients ask, “What should I wear?” Second to choosing a photographer who you really connect with, wardrobe is definitely the next biggest decision. It’s a major decision! Clothes make the man, and it can make or break your portrait session. I am so excited to share with you an amazing fashion stylist who will work with you to make sure that your entire family looks fabulous for your custom portrait session. I have been working personally with Ashley Scharf for years. Her own twins are my muses and working with her always gets my creative juices flowing. She does it all. Whether it’s just going through your family’s closets and putting together ensembles based on what you already own, going shopping with you or on her own, I guarantee that you’ll look back on your portraits with such pride. Ashley will create a look for your family that is fashionable, cohesive and timeless. Shoot her an email for more information ashleyscharf@aol.com.
Ashley worked with this mom of three amazingly handsome boys to create looks that not only fit the lifestyle of the family, but fit in with the location that we choose as well.
