The Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District and then made our way onto the High Line. Even though its packed on the weekend we still had a great time. Stopped at the Chelsea Market for a "People's Pop", appreciated street art, and played in the green space. It was truly a lifestyle session that portrayed true life on a Saturday afternoon in New York City.
I'll be back in Manhattan after the first of the year. If you live in the area and would like more information regarding commissioning me for a session please call the studio at 954-558-6893 or shoot me an email, courtney@courtneyortiz.com.

Apparently Simona didn't have the same vision for this shot as I did.
Simona’s parents drove all the way from their home in Boston to meet me in New York City. This really really really meant a lot to me. We met on Saturday afternoon at The Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District and then made our way onto the High Line. Even though its packed on the weekend we still had a great time. Stopped at the Chelsea Market for a “People’s Pop”, appreciated street art, and played in the green space. I first met Nina in May, when her mother commissioned her portraits down here on my turf on Hollywood Beach. So of course, I was beyond thrilled to see Nina again on her turf during my trip to New York City. She is super adorable and spending time with her and her family actually made me miss my own kids.
I’ll be in the NYC area again for commissioned portraits in January. Please email courtney@courtneyortiz.com or call the studio 954-558-6893 for more information.
I’ve been shooting these girls for over four years, and just because they moved from South Florida to New York, didn’t mean our relationship was over. Raina, Shaye, and their fabulous mom Tanya met me on a gray foggy Saturday morning in Manhattan. We met outside The Standard Hotel, explored the Meatpacking District, and strolled the High Line (which is quickly becoming my favorite spot in the city).
I’ll be back in New York in January. Stay tuned for more details.
I think it’s been three years since I last photographed little Maddie and Jordan, although they’re not that little anymore. They are now two very gorgeous young ladies. We spent an amazing afternoon in my ‘hood, downtown Hollywood.
Very limited availability for the remainder of 2013. Seems crazy to be thinking about the end of the year already, but 2014 will be here before we know it, and I’m ready!
It was just over a year ago that I first met Jonah and Zoe. Zoe was just sitting up on her own. Where does the time go?
I’m heading to New York City this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to meeting new clients and making new friends. I have only one appointment left on Saturday. Call the studio or email me for more information.
As a portrait artist, my vision goes beyond what I see in my camera. It’s also how I feel the final piece should be viewed and enjoyed. It’s important that the final tangible piece I place in your hands is of the absolute best quality. I also understand that choosing your favorite images in a gallery of sometimes over 100 images can be a daunting task at best (Yes, 2-3 hours with me during a lifestyle session can result in that many images. It’s your story!).
When you commission me for portrait art, the process is collaborative from the moment we first speak on the phone until the artwork goes up on your walls. After your portrait session, we will make another appointment to meet again either at your home or at Gallery 2014 in downtown Hollywood. Together we go over all of your images and discuss your options. You get a chance to see and touch real samples and design your wall gallery display that best fits your home’s decor and budget.
This family knew right away that they wanted a gallery display in their “Play Zone.” The bright colors of their portraits meld perfectly with the bright colors of the toys. The family wanted to hang their portrait art in an area of the home where the pieces would get the most enjoyment. Together we chose the four images that best showcased the personality of their sons and them together as a family.
Print options range from traditional prints that can be matted and framed to non-traditional mediums like printing on wood, metal, and acrylic. The latter options do not need a frame and come ready to hang. This family wanted to really make a statement and decided on 4 16×20 gallery-wrap canvases. Owning the digital negatives was also important to this young family, and that is why I make all digital negatives available to clients who make a minimum investment in art.
Displaying large-scale portraits in your home, whether they are framed prints or gallery-wrapped canvas will take your breath away every time you walk into the room.
I offer full installation of your portrait art. (Not everyone has a handy hubby.)
As an “add-on” the family opted for the mini accordion brag book. These 3×3 custom designed brag books with magnetic closure, come in a clear plastic cover in sets of three. Perfect gift for family or for yourself.
The portrait art from Courtney Ortiz Photography will last forever. These are pieces that will be passed down through the generations for both you and your children to enjoy.
Those first few days with your first born are precious and all too fleeting. Meet Crosby. He was one week old when I came over to meet him and hang with his mom and dad for a bit.
I love new parents and as a mom of three, they always make me chuckle. These two didn’t disappoint. They were full of awe of their new son and full of questions for me. I felt like the sage old medicine woman imparting my almost 7 years of maternal wisdom on these fresh new recruits. (scary right?!?)
I love being able to capture these moments with new babies. It allows me as an artist and photographer to really allow my clients to tell their own story with a little help from me.
If you are expecting, just remember the best time to photograph the new baby is within the first two weeks. Don’t hesitate to even tentatively set a date with your photographer (me), to make sure you make the calendar.
See you soon,

I walked into the house and Crosby was perfectly swaddled and bathed in the most delicious light.
Mom is half Japanese and these paper cranes were used as decor for the reception. It’s a perfect personal touch to the nursery, specially since they didn’t find out what they were having.
Evan and Avery have been visiting me all the way from Switzerland, every year since 2009. We have been all over South Florida documenting their summers here in the states. But for this Lifestyle Session, we went back to where it all started, the same beach where we had our first session back in fall of 2009. ALOT has changed. I really enjoy watching these two kiddos grow up.
I’ve been designing gorgeous coffee table books for this family. I can’t wait to see what this one will look like!
Meet Lily and Emily. Lots of personality in these two beauties. Lily and I first met when she was a baby, at a mommy and me class. Fast forward 6 years and she’s entering first grade just like my Owen. Where does the time go?
The girls and I ran around on Dania Beach one afternoon during the last week of summer vacation. Perfect weather, perfect light, and gorgeous kiddos. Life is good.
I really love large family sessions. There is so much going on and so much interaction, that it really makes it easy for me to capture so many genuine moments. Everyone is genuinely happy to be together. How awesome is that?! Lucky for me, I photographed Megan and Jim’s wedding two years ago, so I already had a bond with this amazing family. Which, of course, is always a win. Sessions in downtown Hollywood and the Beach are currently available. I’m also traveling to New York City and will be available for sessions on Saturday, October 5. 30 minute session to include 4 8×10 prints $250 in downtown Manhattan, exact location TBD. Email the studio or give me a call for more information. I’m really excited about my upcoming travel schedule. I’d love to see you. See you soon, court
