Bon Voyage… | Ft. Lauderdale Photographer

I totally get why wedding photographers love what they do.  They have an opportunity to capture moments on what is and should be the happiest day of a couple’s life.  The joy is true and the happiness is real.  Well, I was able to photograph a family on a day that could very well give wedding days a run for their money:  The day the family left for VACATION!!!!!  And not just any vacation, but a two week cruise to the Caribbean aboard the luxury cruise line Regent‘s ship Seven Seas Navigator.  I met them at Port Everglades and was able to board the ship and tag along as they explored their new home for the next 14 days.  I’ve been on a couple of cruise vacations myself, and the most exciting day is the day we boarded.  Everything’s new and exciting!  We actually were able to visit the ship’s bridge and meet the captain.  What 3 year old boy wouldn’t love to steer a ship?!?

The Ice Cream Man | South Florida Photographer

The ice cream man comes by our house pretty regularly.  Owen can hear him from a mile away.  He hears him way before I do.  Owen will say, “I hear the ice cream!”  Of course I won’t, so I think he’s making it up, and yet low and behold here comes the ice cream man.   The ice cream man music affects my kids the same way, I’m sure, Pavlov’s dogs responded to that bell.  When the ice cream man started coming, or my kids were old enough that I paid attention to it, if I had cash I’d get ice cream for the kids.   My husband would say, “You know, you keep doing this and the kids are going to start to expect it.”   Well it’s probably been a year now that the ice cream man has been regularly stopping at our house, and so far so good.   If I have cash, we get ice cream, if I don’t, the kids just seem to be happy being able to hear him and wave as he’s going by.   If my kids grow up, and twenty years from now think back on their childhood, smile, and say “Everytime we heard the ice cream man, my mom would get us ice cream.”  Then I’m happy!  What a great memory to have!  The ice cream man!

He came by yesterday.  Owen had a friend over.  We bought two Batmans and a Dora.

Sneak Peak… | Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Photographer

I’ve been waiting to blog these images.   The family and I created a coffee table book as gift for Grandma.  She’s receiving it tonight.  So I figure the photos are safe to blog and can make their first public appearance.  The family is gorgeous, and I was really able to capture some beautiful, very personal and touching images as we walked together in downtown Hollywood.

Waiting for Tylden | Birth Photography

I had the privilege to hang out with Tookie yesterday, as his mom, (my dear friend and photographer Kat Braman) went in for her scheduled c-section.  It was tough for Tookie to say goodbye to his mom and dad, knowing he had to stay in a room with a strange woman he hardly even knows.

He calmed down pretty quickly…

We watched a little TV…

colored…

and then Tylden arrived right on time.

Stacie & Stan… | Ft. Lauderdale Wedding Photographer

It was a year ago on St. Patrick’s Day that these two met!  Their paths crossed in the parking lot of Shennanigans West Side in Hollywood, Florida.  They’re getting in married in June!  It was only natural that they would have their engagement photos taken in the place and on the anniversary of when they first met!

Congratulations Stacie and Stan!!

I just know it was those eyes and gorgeous smile that drew him to her!

Temple Beth El Character Breakfast | Ft. Lauderdale Family Photographer

For the second year in a row I had the opportunity to be a part of the Temple Beth El Character Breakfast.  This year I did things a little different.  I brought along a photo booth to take fun and fantastic photographs of the students and their parents.    Photos were then available for purchase with 50% of the proceeds going back to the school’s PTO.   I love being a part of these events.  As a parent, and former teacher, I was blown away by the dedication of the parents and staff who really worked hard to put together such a wonderful event.  I’m planning on putting Owen in school next year, and the preschool at Temple Beth El in Hollywood is at the top of my list!

She's ONE….. | Fort Lauderdale, Florida Photographer

I love first birthdays for no other reason than to photograph the smash cake.

before…

after…

I was invited to attend Miss Madelyn’s first birthday party at the Emerald Hills Country Club last Saturday.   One of the coolest parts of my job is that it allows me to reconnect with old friends.  I love it when old friends look me up to photograph their families.  It’s an amazing honor and privilege.

I went to school with both of her parents.  Her mother and I both attended Olson Middle School and all three of us graduated from South Broward High School.   Her dad, Dr. Gerber, is now my dentist.  We’re ALL growing up so fast.  (btw, if you’re in the market for a dentist, Dr. Jeremy Gerber is the best dentist ever, and I hate the dentist!)
