Heart Gallery shoot. "K" was in the foster care system. Her portrait was going to hang in the Heart Gallery. During our quick 15-20 minute session she asked me, "Do you know when I'm going to find my forever family?" I had to look her right in the eye and honestly say, "I don't know."
This past summer, "K" was adopted! I had the honor and privilege of being able to attend her official adoption proceedings. (See images from that day here!)
And now, almost two years since "K" and I first met, I was able to photograph and capture her first family portrait session.

I first met “K” back in January 2009 during a Heart Gallery shoot. “K” was in the foster care system. Her portrait was going to hang in the Heart Gallery. During our quick 15-20 minute session she asked me, “Do you know when I’m going to find my forever family?” I had to look her right in the eye and honestly say, “I don’t know.”

I had the pleasure of meeting this family a couple of weeks ago at Vizcaya for a Lifestyle Session. I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend a Sunday morning. Gorgeous weather, gorgeous location, and even more gorgeous family.
In studio news, we are now booking appointments for January. If you missed the holiday portrait “boat”, what a great way to start the new year.
Also, 10 blog comments and this family receives an 8×10!
One of the most satisfying things about my job is truly being able to build relationships with my littlest clients. This little guy has seen a lot of me and will continue to see a lot of me over the next year. But now that he knows and recognizes me, his face totally lights up when he sees me. Can’t get any more job satisfaction than that!
This adorable little guy came by with his momma for a quick studio mini session. He took his job very seriously. Studio sessions are available on Saturdays from 9-2. Inquire within for more info!
We are totally caught up with our editing here at the studio, which is a good thing. Because starting tomorrow, we have 18 sessions booked in the next 12 days, and believe it or not, 3 more spaces for the November 21, Holiday mini sessions in downtown Ft Lauderdale. That on top of the 9 client sessions in line to be blogged and my head starts to spin. But all of these are wonderful and amazing things. When I sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, I really have so much to be thankful for.
That being said, the next couple of images are of my very dear friends who just recently moved to Chicago. I did a little retrospective when they fist moved. (See it here!). Over the years of play dates and family get togethers, in which I took a lot of pictures, we never had an “official” session. We got one in before they left.
My amazing friend Daniella, invited me be a part of “Team Alex” and walk with her family for the 2010 National Down Syndrome Society’s 2010 Buddy Walk held on Hollywood Beach. Her brother, Alex, was born 10 years ago with Down Syndrome. For the last 10 years her family and friends have participated in the Buddy Walk to celebrate Alex and to promote understanding and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. I met Daniella first about a year ago. She was Owen’s soccer coach at the YMCA. I am truly inspired by Daniella and her dedication to her brother, siblings, and family. (I photographed the love Daniella shares with her siblings over the summer. Check it out here!)
The Buddy Walk was full of beautiful families celebrating their children and the love that they have for each other.
