Greg Wohrle Foundation's "The Feel the Love Fest" fundraising event. Kim Heller, began telling me about Greg Wohrle and the mission of the Foundation. Taken from their website "The Greg Wohrle Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide funding and education for brain tumor research and respite to those most in need.
Our efforts are focused on enhancing the everyday lives of families, affected with brain tumors, through emotional, financial and physical support." I dig that! But as our conversation continued and she told me about the man/father Greg was and just about how awesome "The Feel the Love Fest" event is for families, I knew I wanted to do more, get involved. Anyone can stick a gift certificate in the mail. So I went. Took my camera and took casual portraits of the families and kids really spending quality, wholesome time together. I was blown away by the scope of the event. Hundreds of people coming together to celebrate the life of Greg all while raising funds for such an amazing cause. I was kicking myself that I didn't bring my own kids. It was really a fun family time for everyone.
So that being said, the complete online gallery from the event can be found on pictage.com. All monies earned from sales of the images will go directly back to the Greg Wohrle Foundaton.

Well AT&T didn’t come that Monday or the following Wednesday, but TODAY. Being that we’re living in a brand new community, there were some bumps in the road, but now we are “wired” or should I say “wireless”. We were two weeks without cable or internet, which really in retrospect wasn’t so bad. Some of our neighbors who moved in closer to the beginning of the year waited months. So we are pretty lucky. But with a Starbucks right around the corner, and very understanding friends and clients, I made it work. It’s funny how quiet my house is at night without the TV on. Almost like an old friend?!? I hate to admit the fact that I am addicted to internet and cable TV. Is it fair to call it an addiction, when really in our everyday lives its really become a necessity. Yikes!
So that being said tomorrow will be two weeks that we’ve been in our new house. I love it. Every inch of it is sweet. I’ll be posting pictures of the house and document the entire design process on a separate blog called “Sisters Not Designers“. Sistersnotdesigners.com is an online journal that I’ll be sharing with my sisters. We’ve all made big living changes recently. Sisters Not Designers are our stories of moving, designing and living with people we love. I’ll be posting later this week. So stay tuned.
My business blog will still be the spot for session sneak peaks and personal pictures of my own children.
This is how Josh and Maggie chose to take the plunge. I was fortunate enough to be one of the 10 non sailing guests able to attend. Josh is up there on the list as one of my oldest and dearest friends. I think he’s actually #3 after Amy and Nathan. Being able to share in a friend of 25 years’ wedding is really an amazing experience.
Their engagement session can be found here and here.
It’s officially moving day in our house!! It’s been 10 months in the making and I can’t believe the day is finally here. So I’m asking all of you for your patience over the next few days. AT&T is coming on Monday to install cable and most importantly INTERNET. If you are a client awaiting your gallery….it’s coming I promise. I really want to thank my friends, family, and clients who have been such a huge support to me through this journey. I wouldn’t be where I am without all of you.
That being said, here’s OUR new house on closing day!
Look! We’ve got mail! Happy to see our change of address has started!
I don’t shoot many weddings, but as I venture into the wedding photography arena, I’m starting to really understand why my wedding photographer friends really love it. It’s all about the relationships. From the interview, to consultation, engagement session, pre event meeting, and the event day ALL DAY, I really get to develop a real friendship with my clients. And I get to spend the most important day of their lives with them AND present them with their memories. Any photographer will tell you, regardless of what they shoot, that the greatest feeling is to give those you truly care about amazing images. And that’s what I’m realizing is what being a wedding (or any type) photographer is all about. Giving people you truly care about something amazing.
That being said, Megan and Tim are engaged!!! I’m shooting their June wedding at the Pelican Grand Bay Resort. I can’t wait!
Embarrassingly enough I shot this family the first weekend of December. But if you were to look at my blogging habits for the month of December you would see it was terribly lacking. But I really love this session. Lifestyle sessions really enable me to capture those little details that you want to remember forever.
I am 5 for 5 this week on the blog! Which I’m really excited about. We had been experiencing blog difficulties since the new website debuted, and now that everything seems to be straightened out I can finally celebrate the studio’s new look. We have been super busy here, and we have so many amazing sessions to share, some being way over due. So stop by often, you never know when you might just see you!
This is the third time I’ve photographed this family in the past year. You can see them here and here.
