I’ve been shooting these guys since their second birthday. Sydney & Ethan are now 5 years old and in kindergarten. Over the years these two cuties have become my little muses and their mama, Ashley, a fabulous stylist, a good friend.
I’ve had my eye on this now defunct golf course that I pass daily on my drive to and from Owen’s school. It’s this perfect green oasis in the middle of a bustling city. I knew I wanted to shoot there and on this day, we were able to make it on the green “ninja style” for our shoot. Come to find out this golf course, Sunset Golf, was sold and up for some major re-development. Re-development that the neighboring communities do NOT want, complete with facebook page “Save Sunset Golf“. The space truly is beautiful, and I feel so truly grateful that I was able to experience it and share it with some very special people. Here’s to saving Sunset Golf. Meet David and Evan. Two super adorable brothers who reminded me of my own son. Their mom, Esther is obsessed with all things modern for kids and the voice behind Buy Modern Baby. For this lifestyle session we spent a couple of hours together hanging out at home and then at the playground down the street.
Esther and I first met on Instagram. We were officially Instagram friends before she ever became a client. There’s the power of social media for ya.

Mom, Esther has an amazing eye for design. I was overwhelmed by the details in her boys’ rooms.
These three super handsome brothers visited me all the way from snowy, cold New Jersey. Three years and one baby brother from our last playdate, and all these guys wanted to do was hit the beach. Which considering the winter they’re having up North I couldn’t quite blame them.

Here’s a little teaser from a session that just took place tonight (2/20/14). I couldn’t help but post it.
Courtney Ortiz Photography creates gorgeous final pieces of portrait art. Although in this day and age I realize the importance of owning the digital files of your portrait session. We have many options for purchasing your digital negatives. Prices start at $150 for a single file to $2,000 for the complete Digital Collection. The Digital Collection is your entire session, all edited high resolution files on a USB drive in a gorgeous custom designed wooden presentation box. The Digital Collection also comes with a printed 4×6 proof of each image.
I met Joseph and his mom for the first time at the Pop-Up Shop I held at Smash Beauty Lounge last month. He is an adorable little boy with an affection for cars, trains, and aero-planes. I worked with his mom and created a set of custom Valentines cards for Joseph to send to relatives and take to school.

If you follow my instagram feed or are fans on facebook, you probably know by know that we are moving. Very excited to announce that Courtney Ortiz Photography is moving into a new dedicated studio space this spring. We are building out a custom space that will allow for regular studio hours, an inside portrait studio with both natural and studio lighting, and a more gorgeous portrait options to choose from. I will be announcing a date in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
We are feeling the love here at Courtney Ortiz Photography. I’ve shot a few weddings in my day, but starting in 2014 we have said “goodbye” to the wedding business. COP is now exclusively shooting children, families, and corporate/commercial. The new studio, coming this spring, will really allow us to do some fun, collaborative, and totally custom projects with clients. That being said, my favorite youngest sister is engaged. Corey popped the question right before Christmas. Although I don’t shoot weddings anymore, capturing my sister’s engagement was a dream come true. Gorgeous couple and gorgeous weather.
If you live in Hollywood and receive the Hollywood Gazette magazine, you might recognize the lovebirds from the February cover. When Jennifer, the editor, told me she wanted the February cover to convey “love” and “Hollywood”. I knew I would be able to kill two birds with one stone. I love when both my personal and professional work can collide.

Friday is Valentines Day. For the past several years I create custom Valentines Day cards for my kids to take to school. It always ends up being this scramble at the last minute. This year I teamed up with my friend Alissa Alfonso. Alissa is the creator of 5 Stitches, a fabulous children’s line all designed and created by her. All of her pieces are repurposed vintage or vintage inspired. Alissa just “threw together” these skirts for our girls and we held an impromptu shoot in my front yard. The lollipop hearts were also sewn by her. Needless to say, all 3 girls have cards ready for Valentines Day.
Did you hear we’re moving?? New studio space in downtown Hollywood is opening this spring!!!!!! More details to follow.
