Gurl, You Are Not Alone is hosted by my dear friend Tonya Seavers Evans. I’ve known Tonya for 8 years. We met at FemCity networking events as bushy bright eyed entrepreneurs. Tonya is smart and classic and collaborating with her on new custom brand photography was a dream. We completed 7 different looks in our full day together, and truly created a comprehensive image library that showcases Tonya’s brand.
My little brother married the gorgeous love of his life in October at the Marriot Harbor Beach in Ft. Lauderdale. I was lucky enough to be the photographer. There’s nothing better than giving the gift of photography to those that I love the most.

This year’s GALA features a live auction of a complete Wedding Package. Tom Dowd, from Water Mill Flowers, assembled the package with local businesses. The Riverside Hotel are providing the venue. The amazing wedding package will be auctioned and is valued at just over $21,000; it includes a venue with sit down brunch for up to 75 people (value of $110 per person), flowers, photography, videography, chocolates, spa package, invitations, complete liquor for 75 people, wedding cake, Hair and Make-up, event planning, DJ, and Lipotronic sessions. Congratulations to these wonderful, loving, couples who TODAY won the fight for marriage equality in Florida. I’m so happy that I was able to work with Equality Florida and photograph 5 of the 6 plaintiffs during the summer. It was an overcast day in Manhattan when my amazing, wonderful, beautiful, gracious,and fabulous friend Tanya married the love of her life, Brett. Tanya and I went to the same high school, but didn’t really get to know each other until we met again working together as elementary school teachers. I have been fortunate enough to photograph Tanya and her family for the last couple of years. So when she asked if I would travel to New York City to capture her wedding day, of course the answer was a resounding, “YES”! Tanya and Brett’s entire wedding day was off the charts unbelievable. From the food, renowned chef Steve Martorano to the music; New York City Club DJ Louie XIV, to the venue; 230 Fifth And the cake…THE CAKE!!!! Created by the none other Sweet GeniusRon Ben-Israel. (Ceremony and reception images to come). Tanya and Brett made New York City a very big part of their day. I firmly believe now that everyone should get married in Manhattan at least once in their lives. I worked the event and had such a great time.
For me personally, I left my four month old daughter for the first time, and professionally it was courtney ortiz photography‘s first official destination wedding. All things I am very proud of.
