Coming soon…….|South Florida Children's Photography

I’m sitting here working my butt off on a huge website update.  That’s right!!  In the next couple of days, the Candids by Courtney website will be ALL NEW!!!!   All new galleries as well as new pricing.  Soooo………if you’ve even been contemplating a photo session, now is the time to do it to guarantee current pricing.  If you’ve already booked, then you’re good!  I’m really excited about the slight new look the website will have, as well as an event/wedding gallery.  I’m now in the wedding, bat/bar mitzvah business and want to showcase a few of the awesome events I’ve been able to cover!

The best part about updating the website is I get to pour over all my client galleries from the past year.   Each session was so unique and fun.  I love being able to reminisce.   So during this process I’m going to post some of my favorite images that I took over the past year!

I love this next photo so much.  I just wish my photoshop skills were good enough that I could’ve done something about the goldfish crumbs!  haha

Twins…..2/2 | South Florida Family Photographer

When I walked into their home Saturday morning, both babies were peacefully sleeping in their pack-n-play bathed softly by the sunlight that was streaming through the sliding glass doors.  I was in awe at the beautiful brother and sister born just the week before.   I wanted to capture them at that moment just as they were.  Totally natural.  The light was gorgeous and the babies were so tiny.

When I placed them on the black velvet, to get some nakey shots, I just let them be.  Baby girl was so peaceful, in and out of slumber.  She watched me.  I’ve never been a fan of newborns photographed with their eyes open, but when she looked at me, I swear she looked IN me.  Her gaze was so intense.

I wanted to capture every nook and cranny.  I love baby parts.  True works of art.

I also love umbilical cords.  I love how the deep purple contrasts with the milky pink skin.  I love what it is.  This crazy purple thing sustained life for 9 months.

It was a magical session.  I’ve gotten to know this family, and the love that they share is amazing.  The photos are natural, pure, and organic.  Words that have stayed in my mind since first looking over the photos taken that day.  These are the words that I’m going to carry with me as I continue to grow as an artist.  I want my photographs to be all three of those things….natural, pure, organic.  I want to capture you and your family just as they are.  Very little added and nothing taken away.

What I love about maternity sessions is that it means there is a newborn to photograph on the way.   The Fitch family is expecting a little boy, who they are affectionately referring to as “Popcorn.”  Mom and Dad are not revealing the name till he arrives.  Anyone who knew me while I was pregnant with Owen knows we called him “Shaq” for months as we were deciding on a name.  When Owen was born, it was strange to call him “Owen” as we called him “Shaq” for so long.  I think for this family, a nickname of “Pop” might just stick.

Twins

I’m just going through images from this morning’s session and I had to post this one right away.  Introducing Miss “L” and Mr. “G”.  11 Days old!  It was such fun and they were so good and the light streaming in through the sliding glass door was to die for!

North Carolina…

We just got back from North Carolina.  Owen, Stella, my dad, and I spent four days and three nights with my grandparents at their house in Flat Rock.  I really truly love it up there.  Each visit becomes more special.

I wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous location and the beautiful light to get some shots of my kids.  Here are two of my faves of Stella.

Pictures of Owen these days are more difficult.  He’s not always cooperative.  In fact, he’s never very cooperative.  I have NO good shots of him and his sister.  I should just consider myself lucky that I got him this close to her.

Memorial Day Weekend……2 of 2

We had such a great time hanging out with Mer and the gang!

Their pool had this great ledge, that was wonderful for jumping.

Owen is really into birthdays right now.  He loves to have us light candles and sing to him.  When I ask him, “What kind of birthday do you want to have?”  He says, “A real one!”

Memorial Day Weekend 1 of 2…..

The Thursday before Memorial Day, I packed up the gang and we flew to DC to visit my Aunt Merideth and her brood.   We spent one day sight seeing, and the other two days just relaxing, drinking beer, and swimming in their pool.  Now Mer used to live in Plantation and I used to spend many weekends at her house.  Mer and her husband Gus, have four kids.  It was after visiting them during the Fourth of July in 2005, that Lenny turned to me on the way home and said, “I think I’m ready to have kids.”  And it was after this visit that the thought of having more than two kids stopped being so daunting.  Her family is fun and full of love!

This first set of photographs are more along the lines of portraits…….candids to come in the next post.

This is my favorite shot of the weekend.  I love the way Stella is smiling at her daddy.  I think I’m going to have a huge canvas made of this or maybe an acrylic print.

Not to be outdone by her brother!

My cousin Jenna!  I’m hoping that she comes to visit me this summer.  I have many fabulous activities in mind……VINTAGE SHOPPING…..LINCOLN ROAD.   Can’t wait!

Bat Mitzvah Bonanza 4/4

I’ve been meaning to post this final blog post for Miss “M’s” Bat Mitzvah.  So here it is.  It was such a fabulous time. The energy was through the roof.  The venue, The Great House, in North Miami was amazing.  The entertainment and dancers of Pure Energy Entertainment did an awesome job of getting everyone involved without being obnoxious and intrusive.  I was super impressed with MC Marcello and the dancers.   And of course I had the privelege of shooting with the amazing Kat Braman.

I’ve never seen a group of more gorgeous kids!

We had such a fun and exciting night!  Kat, let’s do it again!

Twins……

This was taken 10 days before she gave birth to twins!  I can’t wait to meet the new arrivals.  Griffin and Logan arrive home at the end of the week!

Bat Mitzvah Bonanza 3 of……

So to celebrate Madison’s bah mitzvah, her parents took all their closest family and friends to a great house, where everyone danced and stuffed themselves with obscene amounts of sweets till the wee hours of the morning.

While Madison and her family waited for the guests to arrive we took the opportunity to take some portraits.  Now I say “we” because I had the pleasure/honor of having with me at my side…………Kat Braman of Kat Braman Photography.  aka Katbphotos.   We worked soooooooo well together. I couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience.  My new flash could’ve been a bit more cooperative, but that’s a story for another day.  Check out some of the shots that Kat took during our portrait session here.
